Accordion Museum

The museum of handprints in Recoaro Terme (VI) was born in 1997 from an idea of Maestro Bio Boccosi from Ancona, as if to recall the event of the delivery of the world Oscar of the accordion in Pavia, awarded to personalities of the sector: concert performers, composers and manufacturers.

After the national meetings of accordion veterans had been held in the thermal town since 1992, the musicians Bio Boccosi from Ancona and Gervasio Marcosignori from Castelfidardo with Bertolini thought of something innovative that could be done in Recoaro, something unique. It was Boccosi who, in 1997, came up with the idea of a museum in which to exhibit the casts of the right hands of the great accordionists. In these 14 years of life, Recoaro Terme has managed to collect more than sixty casts of the great accordionists, so as to build an evocative museum, unique of its kind.

Thanks to the current Municipal Administration, the imprints are now housed in special rooms in a secluded building in the historical center of the city, where the display cases of the characters have become a rich documentation of the most famous accordionists. For each artist it is possible to see a musical autograph, photographs, records, CDs and whatever else has characterized his career. Marcosignori, Principe, Galla-Rini, Beltrami, Corino, Fugazza and Boccosi, the latter two for special merits, together with the others, find a point of reference in the Recoaro museum.
